I am my Father's Son! - Part 1

Such a powerful phrase, right? or... the apple doesn't fall far from the tree... like mother like daughter...or I just call my fiancee by her mother's name from time to time, just to poke at her... hehehe.
So how do you get to state of Peace within and accept that you have been created by He that came before you, and you are right now exactly like him?
Well today, let's take just a few beginning steps to reclaim one's self:
  1. Buy yourself a journal, something that you feel good writing in. It doesn't have to be fancy, just something that's yours. (Try to avoid just using a computer (he said as he typed fervently). It's really important to connect physically pen to paper. It will allow your mind to open.
  2. Ask yourself out loud, "Please let me write without judgement or hesitation." It's just words, but try to get through without stopping, scratching out paragraphs or tearing out pages.
Now with your handy journal:
  1. write on the left, "Things I Love about my dad". Make them physical, emotional, whatever. (i.e. "my dad has a great head of hair, He is a charming yet dirty old man").
  2. On the Right, "Things I wish I could change about my DAD." let that list include past and present behaviors.
  3. Go through, and now begin circling everything that you are similar if not identical to. At the end of the exercise (assuming that you're new to this type of work) your page should be 75% circled if not more.
  4. Now go to the top of the page and put a line through the word DAD, and write above it MYSELF.
  5. You now have 2 lists. Mainly circled, "things I love about myself", and "things I wish I could change about myself."
  6. You are now at the first step of recognizing (not judging) who you are, and recognizing what you are, and apparently what you aren't yet.
  7. You can even start putting stars next to what items you'd like to change about yourself first.
That's a great beginning. Look at that in the morning and again at night, and soon I will have some more tips of how to take the next step. The most important part is that you've already taken the first step in proving that you have the ability to change. You have the option of being your own person and not a clone of your papa. That should feel pretty liberating. Your journey and challenges and successes will be different from his, from this day onward.

Stay classy, and we'll talk again soon.
